Year in review: No sign of peace in Syria

Tens of thousands of people have died in Syria's bloody civil war since the beginning of the conflict 20 months ago, as 2012 is ending with no sign of peace.

Political solution in Syria possible: US

Senior UN diplomats say it's still possible to find a political solution to the Syria conflict.

At least 44,000 people have been killed in violence across Syria since the outbreak of the anti-regime revolt in March last year, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

And 2012 is ending with no sign of peace for Syrians.
