In under a year, Nic Marchesi and Lucas Patchett went from having a "crazy idea" to an operation helping thousands across Australia.

Now, the newly-crowned Young Australians of the Year aim to go global.
The best mates from Queensland want to expand Orange Sky Laundry, a free mobile laundry service for homeless people, which they set up in 2014.

More than 270 volunteers run five vans - each fitted with two commercial washing machines and two dryers - in Brisbane, Melbourne, South East Victoria, Sydney and the Gold Coast.
Collectively they wash over 350 loads each week, but that's not enough.

"Unfortunately, there are people who find themselves homeless, not connected with the community and not having conversations on a daily basis," Mr Marchesi, 21, said.

"No-one in the world is providing free mobile laundry services anywhere.

"What we're excited to do is bring our service all around the world."
The pair aim to roll out the service internationally as soon as March, beginning in Europe.

"And then from that, we want to see services in the UK and all across America into the second half of this year."

Mr Marchesi and Mr Patchett are the first ever dual winners of an Australian of the Year award.
