Young woman raped on Sydney bridge

Police have charged a 26-year-old man who allegedly raped a 19-year-old woman on Sydney's Anzac Bridge.

A young woman has been raped on a bridge in central Sydney.

The 19-year-old was allegedly sexually assaulted on the Anzac Bridge in the early hours Of Thursday morning, police say.

Paramedics treated her at the scene before taking her to the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.

Shortly after the attack a 26-year-old man was arrested and charged with sexual intercourse without consent.

He was refused bail and will appear before Sydney's Central Local Court on Friday.
