An attempt to engage with social media by the taxi industry has become an embarrassing failure after the hashtag #YourTaxis was hijacked today.

The campaign was launched by the Victorian Taxi Association asking people to share their “taxi story” online.  It went downhill from there with many happy to share their story, but few were positive.

It all got underway this week when the campaign was kicked off by the account @yourtaxis.
Once the negative tweets started pouring in, the @yourtaxis account was kept busy responding to myriad complaints.

The account also insisted the exercise had not been a publicity failure, tweeting to one commenter: “Not a PR fail at all @whatsthestoryAU @newsmodo_com This is exactly point of @YourTaxis - feedback on the good, bad & everything in between.”
