We've all been there.
You're whizzing along on a train watching a brilliantly funny cat video on YouTube when the internet signal drops out.
Or you're sitting on a plane watching a new television episode when the aircraft takes off, leaving you videoless.
But no longer, according to YouTube, which has flagged a new function that will allow mobile users to watch clips for a temporary period while offline.
"This upcoming feature will allow people to add videos to their device to watch for a short period when an internet connection is unavailable," the company said in a blog post aimed at content creators.

"So your fans' ability to enjoy your videos no longer has to be interrupted by something as commonplace as a morning commute."
The offline function is set to launch on YouTube's mobile app in November.
It remains unclear how long users will be able to store and watch YouTube videos on their machines without an internet connection.
There have been media reports speculating that it could be for around 48-hours.
