Adam Zampa is officially the IPL's best bowler, having taken 11 wickets at the lowly average of 7.54 in this year's tournament.

Zampa was again the pick of the bowlers in Rising Pune's rain-affected win over Delhi on Tuesday night, taking 3-21 to help the home side to just their fourth win of the season from 12 games.

It follows on from last week's tournament-best spell of 6-19 against the Sunrisers Hyderabad, and has him at the top of the average charts with each team having just two games left to play.

"You don't get many better days than 6-19 but you've got to rock up and play for the team as well," Zampa said after the match on Tuesday.

"I have a range of (variations of) balls.

"And if I feel like one thing is best for the team to try and get us out of the over, I do it."

The South Australian is following on from his surprise selection in Australia's World Twenty20 campaign in India.

Despite only making his international T20 debut against New Zealand earlier this year, Zampa took five wickets for the tournament, and captain Steve Smith was criticised for underbowling him in the must-win clash against India.

Of those who have bowled more than two overs, Zampa's nearest rivals are injured Australian duo Mitch Marsh and John Hastings, whose wickets have come at 11.25 and 18.50 respectively.

As well as his wicket-taking ability, Zampa has also proved miserly - conceding less than seven runs per over to have the best economy rate of any bowler who has delivered more than 10 overs.

The 24-year-old was also the leading wicket-taker for the runner-up Melbourne Stars in last summer's BBL.
