Zunic on course for Qld Open triumph

Jordan Zunic has surged away from the Queensland Open field after equalling the course record with a round three six-under-par 65 at Brisbane Golf Club.

Queensland Open contender Jamie Arnold did his best to unsettle the frontrunners with a course record-equalling round on Saturday before one of the leaders went and matched it.

Jordan Zunic is the man to catch on Sunday at the Brisbane Golf Club, sitting five shots clear after a six-under-par round of 65.

Arnold had earlier mirrored that effort, while Jake McLeod's five-under round kept the leaderboard attendant busy.

"My game plan has worked pretty well all week so I'll stick with that. It's wind dependant obviously, if that changes it'll change everything," Zunic said.

"I'm really happy with my shots and lines I'm taking off the tees so if I just keep rolling my putts in like I have been and give myself some looks at birdie I should be pretty good."

Steven Jeffress and Adam Blyth are eight-under and in the frame but will need to rely on the former New Zealand Open winner to fade.

"I had some fantastic up and downs which saved me and allows me to have an outside chance tomorrow," Blyth said.

"You've got to be sensible because it's not a course you can get too aggressive on or it'll bite you so I've got to be 'smart aggressive' and I've just got to hole putts."

Overnight leader Zach Murray dropped three shots on the opening two holes as he chased historic back-to-back titles as an amateur.

He had clawed them back 10 holes later and will begin the final round tied for sixth, alongside fellow leading amateur Joel Stahlhut, on six-under.
