An 11-month old girl has died in Melbourne just days after her parents' pleas for help in finding a missing mobile phone - containing hundreds of family photos - caused a viral sensation and search.
Jay, the father of baby Amiyah Windross, posted to Facebook on saying that she had died on Wednesday.
"It is with utter sadness that Dee and I inform everyone that Amiyah Victoria grew her wings at 2.05am on Wednesday morning," he wrote.
Jay, who lives in Boronia with his wife Dee, said that Amiyah had "battled hard and fought an undiagnosed neurological issue from the day she was born".
The news of Amiyah's death comes just five days after the parent's posted a series of emotional pleas for help finding a missing mobile phone to Facebook.
"Our 11-month daughter is currently deteriorating in ICU and is in her last days with us and this phone holds all our memories of her," Jay wrote to Facebook on the weekend - in a post which was shared more than 150,000 times.
"This is worth life to us. If it's money you need, we will gladly offer you a cash reward for the return of the phone. No questions asked. No grudge held."
