Ashleigh Barty and Casey Dellacqua have been eliminated from the Australian Open women's doubles by the top French pair.

Local hopes Ashleigh Barty and Casey Dellacqua have crashed out of the Australian Open women's doubles in the quarter-finals.

The wildcard women got off to a flying start before falling to French top seeds Caroline Garcia and Kristina Mladenovic 1-6 6-2 6-1.

The Australians, who have only recently resumed playing together, were hoping to emulate their 2013 success when they reached the finals at Melbourne Park, Wimbledon and US Open.
