BBL's Strikers feel 'hard done by': Siddle

The Adelaide Strikers feel "hard done by" as three top-line players are unavailable for their BBL semi-final, paceman Peter Siddle says.

The Adelaide Strikers feel "hard done by" with three top-line players to miss their BBL semi-final due to Australian commitments, paceman Peter Siddle says.

But he says there's no point moaning about the loss of captain Travis Head, wicketkeeper/batsman Alex Carey and quick Billy Stanlake for Friday night's showdown with the Melbourne Renegades at Adelaide Oval.

The trio have been selected in Australia's Twenty20 squad for the tri-series against England and New Zealand.

"We feel a bit hard done by," Siddle told reporters on Monday.

"But it affected teams throughout the normal fixturing in any given season.

"It's disappointing, yes. I know fans will be disappointed, but that is the way it is.

"We all play this game to represent Australia and you speak to speak to Heady or Cez (Carey) or Billy, they're loving the opportunity to be playing for Australia."

Adelaide's star legspinner Rashid Khan will also be unavailable should the Strikers advance to Sunday's final.

But Siddle was sympathetic to scheduling clashes between the BBL and international cricket.

"You want the best players playing all the time but there's so much cricket being played these days, it's hard to get that 100 per cent right," he said.

"You look at some of the other teams throughout the (international) one-dayers, they have lost a lot of players and still been able to perform.

"The (Perth) Scorchers are probably that perfect example for us ... they have lost a lot of players through injury and selection throughout the tournament and still finished on top.

"Our depth can stand up and we can get the job done."

Carey, the second-highest run scorer in the BBL this season, is likely to be replaced by Harry Nielsen, the son of former Australia coach Tim.

"I would assume so," Siddle said.

"I have got no idea what they (selectors) are thinking but I have got full confidence if he's the choice, that he can step up and play a role and fill the void."

Fast bowler Wes Agar is likely to replace Stanlake with Head's batting slot set to be filled by Jono Dean.
