A blast in Afghanistan's southern Kandahar province has killed four rapid response police and a civilian.
The commander of the Kandahar rapid response police force, General Janan Mama, was among those killed in Wednesday's blast that took place in Kandahar city, provincial council member Haji Mohammad Nadir said.
He said five others were injured in the blast. The type of explosive used was not yet known.
Matiullah Hilal, a local police spokesman, said a magnetic bomb attached to the commander's vehicle exploded and killed him.
No group has so far claimed responsibility for the attack.
Magnetic bombs are frequently used in Afghanistan to target government workers travelling in unarmoured vehicles.
