Australia have taken just one game on tour to reignite debate about Indian icon MS Dhoni.
Dhoni, aged 37 and having represented his country in a staggering 525 internationals, is yet to give any indication about retirement plans.
The widespread expectation is the former cricket skipper will pull the pin after this year's World Cup, a tournament that holds a special place in his heart after steering India to victory on home soil in the 2011 final.
But the wicketkeeper is no stranger to sudden and low-key retirements, having ended his 90-Test career at the MCG in 2014 via a press release.
Dhoni's three half-centuries during the recent ODI series in Australia, including two unbeaten match-winning efforts, had seemingly silenced his doubters.
But the veteran is now copping the bulk of social-media trolling from India's passionate fans after their team's final-ball Twenty20 loss in Vizag, with many of them suggesting it's time for him to go.
Dhoni scored 29 from 37 balls in the T20, notably striking just one boundary and refusing to take singles during the final three overs of the innings as India stumbled to a total of 7-127.
Dhoni's strike-rate of 78.37 is the second lowest by an Indian batsman in an international T20 innings of at least 35 balls.
Australia's match-winner Glenn Maxwell and gun Indian paceman Jasprit Bumrah both defended Dhoni for farming the strike.
"It was probably fair enough," Maxwell said.
"With the way the wicket was, being difficult to score for any batter, let alone a guy who is not known for his power-hitting in (tailender Yuzvendra) Chahal.
"MS is obviously a world-class finisher and even he was finding it hard to hit the middle of the bat.
"If you hold MS to one boundary in the last few overs, it's a pretty big effort."
Bumrah conceded his side were "short by 15-20 runs" but that Dhoni ensured the bowlers at least had "something that we could fight (with).
"He was trying to take the game deep and get us to a safe total," Bumrah said.
Rishabh Pant's impressive form during India's recent Test tour of Australia highlighted what could be a potential elephant in the room for India.
Pant has played just three ODIs despite his ability to score freely and quickly.
