Digital Mahatma Gandhi exhibition opens in Melbourne

A Mahatma Gandhi exhibition has opened at Melbourne's Immigration Museum, bringing together old artefacts and digital technology.

Century-old artefacts and digital technology have been combined to attract a new audience to one of the most remarkable stories of the past century.

The life of Indian activist Mahatma Gandhi has been immortalised in a new exhibition, Mahatma Gandhi - An Immigrant, that has just opened in Melbourne.

Digital technology such as interactive "touch walls" has enabled Gandhi's enduring message of peace through non-violence to reach a new, much younger audience.

Gandhi, born into British-ruled India, led non-violent resistance movements that changed both South Africa, where he worked for a time, and his eventually independent homeland.
