Fever re-sign Nat Medhurst

West Coast Fever veteran Nat Medhurst says she has unfinished business with the netball club.

Star Australia Diamonds goal attack Nat Medhurst has re-signed with the West Coast Fever, but the Perth-based club face an uphill battle to qualify for next season's netball finals.

The signing of Medhurst and 19-year-old Jessica Anstiss completes the Fever's 10-person roster.

Medhurst, a three-time world champion and Commonwealth Games gold medallist, is one of Australia's most decorated players.

But the Fever enter the new National Netball League having lost a sizeable chunk of their best players.

Star goalshooter Caitlin Bassett, former captain Ash Brazill, centre Shae Brown and defender April Brandley have all been lured to rival clubs.

England defender Stacey Francis has been recruited to help fill the void, while Annika Lee-Jones and Victorian midcourter Shannon England have also joined the Fever.

But the combined loss of star power means Fever coach Stacey Rosman faces a big battle to lead her team to the finals.

Medhurst, the current longest-serving member of the Australian Diamonds set-up, said she was thrilled to be able to sign a multi-year deal with the Fever.

"I'm a firm believer in leaving things in better shape than what they were when you started," the 32-year-old said.

"And I am absolutely committed to continuing to drive positive change for our club, as well as the game of netball right across WA, alongside my teammates."

Rosman described Medhurst as the ultimate competitor.

"To have a player that is so driven for success whilst continuing to improve her game, evolve and be challenged, provides such a positive influence on her teammates," Rosman said.
