Aboriginal singer Gurrumul has cancelled his upcoming east coast Australian tour due to poor health.

The singer cited "ongoing health issues" as the reason, and will not appear as the headline act for the St Kilda Festival in Melbourne.

Born blind, Gurrumul shot to fame with his self-titled album in 2008, which sold half a million copies worldwide, reaching triple platinum in Australia.

He was set to perform in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane for his TRIBE2tribe electro East Coast tour in February, but has cancelled all four shows.

Skinnyfish Music said all tickets purchased will be refunded.
