Heat skipper Lynn eyeing T20 World Cup

In-form Brisbane captain Chris Lynn believes only his fragile body stands between him and a chance at Twenty20 World Cup glory next year.

In an otherwise dismal Big Bash League campaign for the Heat, Lynn has been a shining light.

The 25-year-old right-hander belted a 51-ball 101 at the Gabba on Tuesday against Hobart.

While Lynn's incredible knock - which included seven sixes - wasn't enough to stop the Heat slumping to their fourth straight defeat, it leaves him top of the run-scorers list for the tournament, with 212 runs at 70.66.

It's a fine return to form for Lynn considering he missed this summer's domestic one-day cup with a shoulder injury.

That setback was the latest in a long line of injuries which have stalled Lynn's career at various times.

A two-time representative for Australia at Twenty20 level, Lynn admits the opportunity to represent his country in next year's World Cup in India is exciting.

"I've just got to try and stay fit on the paddock," Lynn told AAP.

"I feel that's let me down in the past couple of years. I know if I keep putting in performances like that, you throw your hat in the ring."

Lynn's primary concern, however, is picking up his first victory as Heat captain.

Tuesday's defeat means even if the Heat win all of their remaining four matches, they could still miss out on a semi-final berth.

But the clean-hitting Lynn isn't giving up on the tournament just yet.

"I'm the leader of the side at the moment and I've just got to keep leading from the front," Lynn said.

"We did it the year we won it, off the back of some power hitting by Luke Pomersbach, so whether that guy's myself, or Lendl Simmons or Jimmy Pierson up the top, a lot of guys have won four games in a row in their cricket career."
