Australia's women have conquered virtually all that is available to them in world cricket but their desire to win a home title stills burns bright.

Australia's draw for next year's home Twenty20 World Cup was unveiled on Tuesday, with the Aussies in a group against India, New Zealand, Sri Lanka and a qualifier.

The women haven't won a home World Cup in any format since 1988, with their last attempt ending in a disappointing failure to get out of the "Super Six" stage in 2009.

"They don't come around too often when you get a World Cup in your home town and for us it would be unbelievably special," Alyssa Healy said.

"We've obviously had a lot of success in World Cups but to do it under pressure in your own country is pretty hard to do."

Australia will likely have a similar squad to the one that won the World Twenty20 last year in the West Indies, with Rachael Haynes their only player over the age of 30 from that group.

Their schedule is similar to the one they had in that tournament, given they beat New Zealand but lost to India before making it out of the group stages in the Caribbean.

India will present a significant challenge in the tournament opener at Sydney Showground on February 21, given they also beat Australia in the one-day World Cup semi-final in 2017.

"When I saw the fixture announcement I went 'dammit, I was hoping to avoid (India)," Healy joked on stage at the tournament's launch..

"India are such a powerhouse in the cricketing world and especially at the moment on the rise in the women's game."

Officials are also still aiming for a world record attendance for a stand-alone women's event come the final at the MCG on March 8.

AUSTRALIA'S DRAW

* February 21 vs India, Sydney Showground

* February 24 vs Sri Lanka, WACA

* February 27 vs Qualifier, Manuka Oval, Canberra

* March 2 vs New Zealand, Junction Oval, Melbourne

* Semi-Finals: March 5, SCG

* Final: March 11, MCG
