Interstate raid lands new Pies AFLW coach

Collingwood have landed SANFL Women's premiership coach Stephen Symonds to lead the Magpies from next season.

Collingwood have named leading SANFL Women's coach Stephen Symonds to replace sacked AFLW coach Wayne Siekman.

Symonds, a premiership coach with Norwood in 2017, was chosen from a strong field of candidates that was believed to include former Adelaide AFLW coach Bec Goddard and Richmond AFL coach Danny Frawley.

Siekman, the Magpies' inaugural AFLW coach, was let go at the end of the 2019 season after managing a 7-14 record in three campaigns and failing to guide his team to the finals.
