Jetstar workers end year-long dispute and accept new pay deal

The year-long dispute saw planes grounded as crews fought for improvements to rostering and allowances.

Jetstar ground crew have accepted a new pay deal following a year-long wage dispute that led to planes being grounded.

The deal includes a 12 per cent pay rise over four years and improvements to rostering and allowances.

It follows strike action by workers in February that forced the budget airline to ground 48 flights across Australia.

The Transport Workers Union says its low-paid workers were blackmailed into voting for the enterprise bargaining agreement or not receive rate increases owed from March 2019.

Jetstar says that backpay to when the previous agreement expired in March last year was not a right but a negotiated benefit.
