Socceroos fans have popped up in unlikely places.

In a neighbourhood of Tripoli, northern Lebanon, Australian flags, green and gold, and flares are becoming a common sight.

Jabal Mohsen has a strong Australian connection with many from the area having migrated here.

It's after 11pm there but a group have stayed up to see if the Socceroos will make history.
