Man dead in Qld light plane crash

The 84-year-old pilot and sole occupant of an ultralight plane has died when his aircraft crashed west of Brisbane.

An 84-year-old man has died after crashing his home-made ultralight plane west of Brisbane, police say.

The man was the pilot and sole occupant of the plane which crashed into a paddock at Laidley just after 5pm on Wednesday

Emergency crews went to the crash scene near Old Laidley-Forest Hill Road, where the man was confirmed dead.

No other people were injured in the crash and investigations are continuing.
