One man is dead and another seriously injured after two shootings in Sydney innerwest which forced the closure of two quiet suburban streets.
The shootings sparked a massive police operation in Lewisham on Friday afternoon as officers tried to track down the perpetrator of the attacks.
One man was found by neighbours on a footpath in Henry St bleeding from a serious wound to his chest about 1pm on Friday.
Police initially said the man had been stabbed, but now believe he was shot.
Keith Mulhall told Seven News his wife found the man on the way home from a coffee date with a friend.

"His face was red and there was bad blood coming out of his mouth. That's pretty much all said to me," he said.
"(She'd) just came back from coffee with a friend and found him on the side of the footpath."
The man, believed to be in his 30s, died on the way to hospital.
Paramedics also treated a second man in his 50s, found in a nearby Victoria Street house with a serious gunshot wound to his head.
The man was then rushed to the Royal Prince Alfred hospital under police escort just before 6pm, where he is now in a critical condition.
Earlier on Friday afternoon police told reporters they were working to identify the original victim and track down his killer.
Vision taken near the Lewisham crime scene showed a woman with forensic bags over her hands being led to a police car.
