Oprah Winfrey has been campaigning for Georgia Democrat Stacey Abrams, who is vying to become the United States’ first ever black female governor, ahead of next week’s midterm elections.
Videos uploaded to Ms Winfrey’s and Ms Abrams’ social media showed the television personality knocking on doors canvassing for the hopeful governor.
“It has been a really interesting experience because when you knock on a door, you don't know what people are going to do or say or how they're going to react,” Ms Winfrey said in one of the videos.
“I left my home in California because I heard about what was happening down here in Georgia and I wanted to do whatever I could to lend my support.”
Ms Winfrey, who has dismissed rumours she is planning to run for President in 2020, also endorsed Democrat Barack Obama before the 2008 election.
Ms Abrams, 44, is running against Georgia’s Republican Secretary of State, Brian Kemp, who has had the backing of own big name: Vice President Mike Pence.
Mr Pence has criticised Ms Abrams for using Ms Winfrey during her campaign.
"This ain't Hollywood, this is Georgia - and Georgia wants a governor that's going to put Georgia values and Georgia first," Mr Pence said at a rally for Mr Kemp this week.
The Republican Party has held Georgia’s governor position since 2003.
