German police say officers have shot and killed the suspect in the Berlin Pride attack that left one person dead and 29 injured.
Abdul Ballout, a German citizen with Lebanese heritage, was suspected of driving a van into a crowd near Berlin’s Pride festival Saturday night before apparently stabbing others in what authorities believe was an Islamist extremist terror attack.
Prosecutors said he had previously sought to join the IS group.
Jörn Iffländer, from Berlin Police, says officers fired at the suspect, after he rushed towards them "with a knife".
"The suspect was located by special operations forces in an allotment garden complex in Berlin-Spandau. During the apprehension, he approached our officers with a stabbing weapon, was stopped by our special operations unit using a firearm, and subsequently died."

A lull in the fighting between Iran and the United States is entering its second day, with the Trump administration saying it wants to give diplomacy a chance.
Appearing on Fox News, United States Ambassador to the United Nations Mike Waltz says the US military is on standby as talks continue, with Oman among the countries acting as a mediator in the discussions.
Mr Waltz says President Donald Trump is giving diplomacy some space.
"As the President said, we are locked and loaded, even more assets are going into theatre, but he's giving talks some space. He's giving it a little bit of room. We've had both Oman and Iran and a number of our other negotiators engaged at every level. from the most senior level down to all the way to the technical level over the past few weeks and particularly in the past few days."
The United States paused its air strikes after 13 consecutive nights of bombing.
Mr Waltz did not provide further details about the negotiations.

Iran has condemned what it says was a Ukrainian attack on one of its commercial vessels in the Caspian Sea, which killed one sailor and injured another.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry has described the incident as an act of aggression, accusing Ukraine of trying to widen the war and vowing to defend Iranian national security.
The comments came after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Ukrainian forces had struck a Russian warship and vessels transporting Iran-linked military cargo in the Caspian Sea.
Mr Zelenskyy has also accused Russia of providing Iran with satellite intelligence to help direct strikes in the Middle East.

Australia is preparing to roll out AusAlert, a new national emergency warning system designed to deliver faster, more reliable alerts during life-threatening events such as bushfires, floods and cyclones.
Australians will receive a test alert at 2pm local time today [[27 july]] as authorities trial the new location-based emergency warning system.
Today's test run will also help authorities identify any issues before the system is used in a real emergency.
Emergency Management Minister Kristy McBain says people do not need to do anything during the trial.
"In an actual event an AusAlert will tell you what the type of emergency is, where it is located and how serious it is. And it will also tell you the name of the emergency organisation that has sent it, and where to find out more information in the case of that emergency."
The alert will work on a number of devices.
Domestic and family violence services, say for safety reasons those with a concealed phone can avoid hearing the alert by switching off or putting their phone in Airplane mode.

To sport now and in cycling, Tadej Pogacar has won the Tour de France for a fifth time, making him the fifth rider in history to match the record feat.
The 27-year-old Slovenian maintained his lead in gruelling heat, breaking records on two of the Tour's most notorious climbs.
He says he will now have to find a new goal.
"Every victory is really special and - seven Tours already and seven times on the podium; and five wins, it is something that you wouldn't maybe even write in a story book. And yeah, it's unbelievable also for me."
Mathieu van der Poel was the final stage winner in Paris, supported by the city's globally renown Moulin Rouge dancers, including Australian Millie Dang.
"I grew up watching the Tour de France all the way back in Australia. So to be here and to see it passing directly in front of me, it's really like a dream. It's just so much fun, the atmosphere, as you can see, is incredible. We've got so many people out here to watch us and of course to support the cyclists and it's an amazing thing to be able to perform such an iconic French dance.
