  • And in the NRL, the Broncos celebrate booking a spot in the Grand Final.
The Coalition has called for an independent inquiry into the triple-zero ecosystem, after nine people were reported to be unable to connect with emergency services in the latest Optus outage in New South Wales.

The Opposition leader Sussan Ley also criticised the federal communications minister Anika Wells, saying she shouldn't have travelled to New York last week, following an Optus triple zero outage in several states that linked to four deaths.

Ms Ley says the Optus Triple-Zero outage continued to worsen while Ms Wells travelled to the UN to discuss Australia's youth social media ban.

"We are calling for an independent inquiry into the whole Triple-Zero ecosystem. It isn't good enough that the minister responsible was swanning around in New York, was absent, and appears missing in action on this critical matter where Australians who are relying on Triple-Zero have lost their lives and communities everywhere are desperately looking for answers."

Ms Wells will meet with representatives of Optus parent company Singtel in coming days.

Treasurer Jim Chalmers has defended Ms Wells' visit to New York, saying the Labor government is holding Optus to account.

Victoria Police have arrested four teenagers after an extensive follow across Melbourne's eastern suburbs to the CBD on Monday.

The four boys, aged between 15 and 17 years old, allegedly hit a pedestrian in the CBD while driving erratically. The injured has been transported to hospital with no life-treatening injuries.

In a statement, Victoria police says it's believed the vehicle was stolen from the Boroondara area on Sunday, and it was dumped on Bourke Street Mall when the four occupants fled on foot.

High-risk domestic violence offenders may now have to inform police when they use dating apps, as New South Wales courts can impose wide-ranging orders on DV offenders from Monday.

The serious domestic abuse prevention order scheme can be enforced for up to five years, and apply to offenders convicted of two or more domestic violence offences and people who have been charged with a serious D-V- offence against a relative, or a current or former intimate partner, even if they are acquitted.

New South Wales Attorney-General Michael Daley says the tough protection orders will provide the strictest possible monitoring and supervision to help keep victim-survivors safe from abuse and harm.

The scheme is part of the state's D-V reforms that passed through New South Wales parliament last year.

If you or someone you know wants to talk about family or domestic violence, call 1800RESPECT on 1800 737 732 or call Lifeline on 13 11 14. In an emergency, call 000.

Moldova's ruling pro-EU party has secured victory in a critical election for a government seeking to ensure the country is kept safe from Russian influence.

With around 96% of votes counted early on Monday, the Party of Action and Solidarity, or PAS, was close to winning 50 per cent of the vote, well ahead of the pro-Russian Patriotic Electoral Block on under 25 per cent.

Voter turnout was more than 52 percent, higher than in recent years.

While still short of a majority in the 101-seat chamber, the preliminary count gets PAS closer to the threshold than many political analysts had expected and could make coalition-building less fraught than feared.

In the NRL,

Brisbane has set up a grand final showdown with Melbourne.

The Broncos ended Penrith's five-peat dream with a stunning 16-14 comeback victory.

Broncos Captain Adam Reynolds landed a sideline conversion in the 77th minute to win it - and put to bed the demons of missing from the sideline in the 2021 grand final against the Panthers while playing for South Sydney.

He says he learned from that experience.

"A few years ago, I didn't separate the emotion from the actual kick. And it is something that has been going on in my head for a long time. If I ever got that opportunity again to just shut off completely and just focus on the basics. And making sure I've got good contact with the ball. And just go through my routine. I've done it over and over again. It just shows that we can stay in the fight - abd get it down. It's the belief from Madge [[coach Michael Maguire]] walked in the doors in November ... he has been instilling that in the group."
