- The Prime Minister announces housing development for former Hobart Defence site.
- Victoria Police reopen hunt for man who shot three people during Melbourne armed robbery 30 years ago.
- And in football, Manchester City wins FA Cup final over Chelsea, but no time to celebrate just yet.
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has visited Tasmania’s Dowsing Point Derwent Barracks, announcing that the Defence site will be given over to new housing.
The federal government had earmarked the site, just north of Hobart, as part of a major offloading of Defence Force assets.
The 31-hectare site is to include up to 1,000 new homes, including social and affordable housing.
"Every single dollar that's raised from any of these projects will go straight back into defence, to provide us with thew assets and support that we need going forward. Today I'm very pleased that my government and the Rockliff government have agreed to work together to redevelop and transform this site to provide more housing, open space and community infrastructure."
The transfer process is set to take at least 12 months.

Meanwhile in Sydney, Treasurer Jim Chalmers says the Opposition's tax proposal would create a quarter of a trillion dollars in debt over the next ten years.
He says the budget reply by Angus Taylor is a recipe for budget deficits, and will cost Australians tens of billions of dollars in debt interest.
"The difference last week was between a Labor government, cutting taxes, five times, three different ways, $2,800 a year for the average worker vs Angus Taylor with his unfunded, uncosted, irresponsible budget reply which is all about staving off One Nation and not strengthening the budget, or not strengthening the economy."
Dr Chalmers also says the status quo in housing is broken, and that Labor took the difficult decisions in the budget to try and fix it.
He says they (Labor) are hoping to make it easier in the budget for 75, 000 renting households to become home owning households.

And a spoiler alert: If you are planning to catch up on the Eurovision results tonight, please turn down the volume for the next 45 seconds as we reveal the winner of this year's song contest.
Fans continue to shower Australia's Eurovision contestant Delta Goodrem with love and support, after the star placed fourth at the song contest in Vienna.
Bulgaria won the competition for the first time, with singer Dara's energetic pop anthem 'Bangaranga'.
Israel placed second, despite five countries boycotting the song contest over Israel's military operation in Gaza.
Back home, hundreds of Eurovision die-hards came together at a hall in the Sydney suburb of Hurstville to watch the Grand Final-- many predicting Goodrem's performance would secure the top prize.
"She was just so beautiful, regal, gorgeous, she sang beautifully. She really represented us well, and we're all really proud !"/"She shined like a goddess, like a sun goddess, I think she's going to win."/ "It was absolutely amazing. She better win."

Police in Victoria have reopend the hunt for a gunman who shot three people during an armed robbery in Melbourne more than 30 years ago.
A balaclava-clad man armed with a handgun shot two Armaguard employees after they collected the takings from a cinema at a shopping centre in Melbourne on May 16, 1994.
The fleeing gunman then shot a bystander who had followed him.
Detective Inspector Adam Tilley said on Sunday that police reopened the investigation after receiving new information; and are appealing for public help to identify the gunman.
"I can't go into the exact quantitiy of the amount of cash that was stolen during this incident... it was substantial. And for domeone to return home with a large quamtiyty of cash would be hard to explain. lso, this type of incident, for the male offender to shoot three people at Chadstone shopping centre at 11:40 AM, that is sunbstantial. There would be people in the community that would know what has occurred. There would be people linked to the offender that would have information in relation to this"

And in football,
Manchester City has won the FA Cup final over Chelsea, with Antoine Semenyo scoring the winning goal at Wembley stadium in the UK.
Just 18 minutes from time, Semenyo brought his team to victory.
Despite their win, Manager Pep Guardiola says his players will not be allowed a single celebratory drink - as the club still has two games left in a tight race for the Premier League trophy.
He says they would be celebrating with their Women's counterparts, who have claimed their first Women's Super League title in a decade.
"JOURNALIST: "Obviously, you've got another big game to come very quickly on Tuesday. Are you allowing the players to have a party tonight, a celebration?"
GUARDIOLA: "Home. Not even one beer. Next Monday after Aston Villa, we're going to celebrate it with the women's team; the club said to me that, with some parade in Manchester because it must be celebrated with both teams. But no, we don't have time. So, we have three days (until next Premier League match against Bournemouth), Chelsea had seven days to prepare for that final; we had three days (since beating Crystal Palace 3-0 in Premier League on Wednesday)."
