Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given a speech at an event for the Australia-India Economic Roadmap this morning, in his first official duty on a multi-day visit to Australia.
Thousands of people from Australia's Indian diaspora are gathering in Melbourne for a planned community event for the leader, among them Ragu Thovinkere Sri Vasaih.
"It is like, I am having goosebumps right now and I can't express. Because we are seeing him in all of the television and the media, but to catch a glimpse of him for real is probably a lifetime achievement I can say."
The United Nations says a renewed military confrontation between the United States and Iran could have catastrophic consequences.
Iran has launched missile and drone attacks on US military sites in Bahrain and Kuwait after Washington carried out more than 80 strikes on Iranian targets, strikes they say were prompted by attacks on commercial shipping vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.
UN spokesperson Stephane Dujarric is urging both sides to return to negotiations.
The Australian Institute of Health and Welfare says more Australians are delaying healthcare because of the cost.
Its latest snapshot of the country's health has found more than 60 per cent of people are living with at least one chronic illness, which includes mental illness, cancer, cardiovascular disease and musculoskeletal conditions.
But head of the AIHW's Flagship Reporting Unit Melanie Dunford says the latest data reveals problems with access to care for these conditions.
"So the report did show that we have seen, particularly in for GP and dental care, that we did see that there are people who are delaying or- foregoing that care. And in part we've seen, that has, that cost has been a factor in people delaying care. It's not the only reason that people delay care. Wait times and barriers to healthcare are also reasons, but we have seen a rise in cost being a barrier, and that was in particular for people accessing GP care."
Australian home rental prices are rising at their fastest rate in two years, according to a new report by Domain.
Sydney, Brisbane, Canberra and Darwin are the most impacted, with a nation-wide rental vacancy rate of 1 per cent.
Domain has found that in the past three months, rent prices grew most in Sydney at 4 percent, with an average Sydney renter paying 50 dollars more between March and June.
Domain chief of research, economist Dr Nicola Powell has told Channel 9's Today show low supply is fuelling the rental crisis.
"We have to remember at the foundations we still have a landlord's market. We still have not enough rental supply nationally and all of our capital cities are operating in that landlord's market. So I do think in part, that is one of the reasons."
The lineup for the World Cup quarter finals are now set, with eight teams proceeding after a dramatic round of sixteen.
France, Morocco, Norway, England, Spain, Belgium, Argentina and Switzerland have all secured their places in the final matches, with four quarterfinals set to be played across the United States.
For the first time in any World Cup, Brazil and Germany are absent from the lineup, while Belgium, Norway and Morocco are reaching the stage for the first time.
Gregor Kobel is the goalkeeper for Switzerland, who last reached a quarter final in 1954.
