A new senate inquiry has been launched to ensure equitable access to diagnosis and treatment for rare cancer patients.

Every 10 minutes an Australian is diagnosed with a rare or less common cancer. That's aproximately 52,000 people per year.

Meanwhile in the same period about 25,000 people lose their lives.

The CEO of Rare Cancers Australian Christine Cockburn has spoken to Sam Dover about the barriers to diagnosis.
