Iran’s President says no negotiations will take place on the country’s ballistic missiles.

Masoud Pezeshkian says the issue was not in the Memorandum of Understanding signed with the US and "will never be".

US President Donald Trump insists Iran has committed to allow International Atomic Energy Agency to undertake nuclear inspections in Iran, vowing to stop talks if Tehran backs down.

"They're wrong. They're wrong. They know they're wrong, they told us inside and we have it down 100 percent inspections. And if they were right, I'd cancel the meetings right now."

The deal reached last week triggered a 60-day period for negotiations, with diplomacy efforts ramping up as Mr Pezeshkian holding a meeting with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has arrived in Abu Dhabi as part of a tour of Gulf allies; and Lebanon and Israel are due for direct talks in Washington.

The United Nations says Israeli authorities and security forces have deliberately targeted Palestinian children, resulting in genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes in Gaza.

An independent UN commission has examined violations against Palestinian children since the start of the war in Gaza, releasing a report which finds around 30 per cent of those killed were children.

The Israeli government has rejected the findings, calling the report 'deeply flawed'.

Chair of the inquiry, Srinivasan Muralidhar says between 7th October 2023 and 7th October 2025, more than 20,000 children have been killed - and more than 44,000 children injured.

"The use of torture, inhumane and degrading treatment, including use of sexual and gender-based violence against Palestinian children, as well as targeting of critical infrastructure essential to children such as orphanages, healthcare and educational facilities. There has been a widespread and systematic killing and harming of children."

.

A Queensland family facing deportation after a visa bungle have been granted permanent residency after an intervention from the immigration minister.

Filipino Reyna Nangan and Thai Karin Yechoku, who have an 8-year-old child together, have lived in Toowoomba for 14 years and own a restaurant there.

They say their previous bid for permanent residency had not succeeded after a past employer failed to follow through on a visa application, with the family's application for ministerial intervention denied at the end of last year when it was found not to be a substantive public interest case.

Reyna has told SBS Filipino they are overjoyed at the change of heart, and appreciate the support shown by the community.

"This town and this community are very special. They make you feel welcome and loved, and they never make you feel that you are unwanted. Sometimes you will feel - you think about what's going on at the moment in our country. But here in Toowoomba, you will never feel unwanted. You feel like you truly belong here."

The bill which paved the way for the biggest-ever cuts to the NDIS has been paused.

The Senate inquiry into the proposed cuts to the scheme has been given an eight-week extension under a deal struck between the Government and the Greens.

In exchange for the Greens' support for the Government's tax reforms, the inquiry will be extended until August 14th.

Greens leader Larissa Waters says the delay will enable the inquiry to further investigate the impact of the proposed changes.

"What we have been able to do is send that bill to further inquiry to give the disability community more of a chance to showcase the human impacts of this bill and we hope that will build momentum and we will certainly use it to try to pressure both the Labor government and the liberal party to stop these cuts."

Disability advocates welcomed the extension, saying the time must be used to hold genuine consultation that goes beyond minor changes.

And to sport, in football,

Cristiano Ronaldo has made history by becoming the first player to score in six different World Cups, helping Portugal to achieve a 5-nil win over Uzbekistan.

He is now the second-oldest scorer in World Cup history - at 41 years and 138 days.

Uzbekistan coach Fabio Cannavaro says it is still possible for the team to proceed to the next round.

"In the first two rounds we faced Colombia and Portugal. They're two of the best teams in the world. Now we have to prepare again the team. Of course, I need to try to tend to my place and not give up. Because of course, we consider five goals today is too much."
