A Taiwanese national will appear in court today after being charged with people smuggling in far north Queensland.
Australian Federal Police say the 34 year old's arrest follows the arrival by boat of 10 to 15 foreign nationals, near Cairns.
Police allege the group arrived at Pennefather Beach about 3am on Tuesday before being picked up in vehicles and taken to Weipa 50 kilometres away.
Cook MP David Kempton says the newly arrived group stunned holiday-goers when they visited a local bakery before being apprehended near a pub.

A house fire on Hope Island in Queensland has killed one person and injured three others.
Authorities say two of them are men who sustained life-threatening injuries when they attempted to rescue an individual locked in a burning room in the property, while another was injured leaping from a balcony to escape.
At least some occupants were family, and some were known to police, who recently attended the address on a domestic violence matter.
Detective Superintendent Chris Ahearn says self-harm by the deceased person is one possibility they are looking into.
"Look, that is one of the avenues that we are investigating, the notion that the occupant of that room, who hasn't been accounted for at this stage, potentially set fire to that room themselves."

The 14-point interim accord was meant to halt the war that began with US-Israeli strikes on Iran in February and reopen the strait, while setting up 60 days of negotiations for a permanent peace deal.
The latest round of talks between the US and Iran have concluded in Doha overnight, as the sides push to end the war in the Middle East.
US Vice President J-D Vance says talks are currently focused on management of the Strait of Hormuz shipping channel.

United States President Donald Trump has filed financial documents that record around $1.2 billion in income from his family's cryptocurrency activities during his first year back in office.
Of those, more than $500 million flowed from his ties to the startup World Liberty Financial - which was co-founded by Mr Trump's sons and the son of his Middle East envoy, Steve Witkoff.
The filings also mention $635 million in royalties received under a licensing agreement related to the $TRUMP cryptocurrency, launched hours before his inauguration.
According to Forbes, crypto has been the key driver of a near tripling of Mr Trump's fortune, but the White House and Mr Trump have rejected any allegations of a conflict of interest.
"I don't get involved in my personal - we have funds that run my money. And I purposefully - I never speak to any of the people that run the money. But they're at big institutions and they invest in whatever they invest in. I don't know."
