Two teenagers have been arrested following a brawl that sent an Adelaide shopping centre into lockdown.

The incident unfolded at Westfield Marion Centre in Adelaide just before 3pm yesterday, triggering reports of an armed person inside with the centre going into lockdown.

Two boys, aged 15 and 16, have now been arrested and charged with assault, affray and aggravated robbery.

Police also seized two expandable batons.

Tony Brown told Channel Seven's Sunrise program that he was with his family in the cinema when the incident occurred.

"We were watching the movie and we heard out of a little speaker some kind of muffled announcement. And as the PA announcers sounded quite rushed and panicked we heard 'weapons' and 'David Jones' so a lot of people started running out. Once we went into the lobby, people were just yelling 'Run! Run!' and it was quite a frightening stampede to have an 11-year-old and an eight-year-old holding hands and running through emergency exits with you."

Saudi Arabian officials have confirmed more than 1,300 people have died at the annual Hajj pilgrimage in Mecca amid extreme heat.

Pilgrims were plagued by temperatures that hit a high of 51.8 degrees Celsius at Mecca's Grand Mosque, with one Australian man among the dead.

Saudi health minister Fahad Al-Jalajel says the majority of those who died were unregistered travellers.

"While the number of deaths reached 1,300, and may God have mercy on them all and forgive them, 83% of them were unauthorised. Those who were exposed to the long-distance elements I mentioned previously and were under the sun without shelter."

In response to the deaths, the Egyptian government has revoked the license of 16 travel agencies that facilitate Hajj visits and, in Tunisia, the religious affairs minister has been fired.

Russian authorities say six policemen and an Orthodox priest are dead after gunmen opened fire at a synagogue, a church and at a police checkpoint in Russia's southernmost region of Dagestan.

The interior ministry for the North Caucasus region said at least two of the attackers have also been killed.

At least 12 police officers were wounded in the shootings.

Protesters have marched along Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro to protest against a bill that would further criminalise abortion in Brazil.

If passed, the bill would criminalise the termination of a pregnancy after 22 weeks as homicide, punishable by up to 20 years in prison.

Currently in Brazil, abortion is severely limited.

One protester says no government, especially one that purports to be secular, has the right to interfere with women's bodies.

"And we are here to show the world that our uterus belongs to us, our body is ours, our state is secular, our country does not have to interfere with women's bodies, we are here to tell the world this, because women are, in all nations, disrespected."

In football,

Hungary boot Scotland out of the European Championship with a dramatic stoppage-time goal while Germany fought back to secure a draw with Switzerland.

Hungary beat Scotland 1-NIL, wrecking Scottish hopes of reaching the knockout stage of a major tournament for the first time.
