Authorities in New South Wales say the process that allowed a neo Nazi rally outside state parliament to be approved - and proceed - on Saturday, will be reviewed.

The New South Wales Police Commissioner, Mal Lanyon, says that while police had allowed the protest, neither he nor the premier knew it was taking place.

He says the process will be fully reviewed to examine what was considered and how that was weighed up against the relevant legislation.

New South Wales Jewish Board of Deputies President David Ossip condemned the rally as disgraceful.

Premier Chris Minns says he will be consider introducing laws that will give police more powers to stop racism and hatred on Sydney streets.

"If we had our time again that rally wouldn't have taken place. But obviously, we are going to take steps in the future to give police the resources they need to ensure a rally like that doesn't take place on the steps of the people's house. And that everybody in Sydney can enjoy our beautiful city free from intimidation, hatred, violence or division."

The Foreign Minister of the Marshall Islands is calling for a global carbon price on international shipping.

Kalani Kaneko addressed world leaders in Brazil at a summit ahead of the official COP30 proceedings commencing on Monday.

The European Union and other countries, including Brazil, which have been pushing for the shipping industry to decarbonise and establish a price mechanism for decarbonisation at the UN shipping agency, the International Maritime Organization.

Mr Kaneko says the outcome of an October vote to postpone action by a year - amid US pressure - underlines the challenges standing in the way of progress.

"It is clear that the fossil fuel industry is not preparing for a just, orderly and equitable transition. Instead, we see a future of supply shocks, conflict of resources, stranded assets and a legacy of dangerous climate change being visited upon us to serve the interests of others."

There will be no US officials at the G20 summit in South Africa later this month.

In a message on social media, US President Donald Trump made the announcement, referencing widely discredited claims that white people are being persecuted in the country.

Mr Trump added that he looked forward to hosting the 2026 G20 summit in the United States, which he plans to hold at his own golf resort in Miami.

South Africa's foreign ministry says the decision by the US President is regrettable - and it looks forward to hosting a successful summit.

Earlier in the week, Mr Trump said South Africa should not be in the G20 at all.

Two KPop songs have been nominated for a Grammy in the song of the year field, an award given to songwriters.

They are the chart-topping "Golden" from the soundtrack of KPop Demon Hunters, the most-watched movie in the history of Netflix , and "APT" by Rose and Bruno Mars.

"Golden" received three total nominations.

Singer and rapper Rei Ami is the singing voice behind the character Zoey in KPop Demon Hunters.

She says she never imagined this level of success.

"Personally, for me, at the premiere, in my head, I was like, if this makes top 10 on Netflix, like we've succeeded. Never did I imagine this level of success. So, I think all of us are really still grappling with the fact that we are the biggest, most watched movie in Netflix history, let alone these songs are breaking records left and right. I think it's really hard for all of us to process still."

In Tennis, Kazakhstan's Elena Rybakina has defeated World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka to win the WTA Finals in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The rematch of September's US Open final swung in favour of Sabalenka early on as she surged to a 5-3 lead and then turned up the aggression from the baseline to take the opening set in an hour.

However, Rybakina stretched her win streak to 11 straight, taking victory 6–3, 7–6 (0).

It is the 26-year-old’s fourth big title after achievements at Wimbledon in 2022, and then at Indian Wells and the Italian Open in 2023.

She says she couldn't be happier.

"It has been an incredible week. I honestly didn't expect any result and to go so far. I mean it is just incredible and I want to congratulate Aryna - a big number one, a second year in a row. It is an amazing achievement. It is incredible. And congrats to you and your team. Today was such a tough battle. And again, it's tennis and I hope we'll play many more finals and big tournaments together."
