Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has confirmed he will travel to India on his way to the G20 Leader's Summit in December, for an event focused on business, culture and sport.
Mr Albanese says the G'Day Namaste event, to be held across India in December, aims to promote economic engagement and increased collaboration between the two countries.
It follows the government's announcement of a roadmap in 2025 to boost economic bilateral ties across four sectors: clean energy, education and skills, agribusiness and technology; and tourism.
Speaking to the Asia Society, Prime Minister Albanese says he'll be travelling to Mumbai with representatives of the Business Council of Australia, and other business leaders, to strengthen ties and promote shared interests.
"We have a lot in common. We're both Commonwealth nations and we have language and universities being established there. There's a lot more we can do, though. It, it has been underutilized, the relationship and partnership, but both PM Modi and myself are very keen on rectifying that."
He says the week-long event will close with a one-day cricket game in Chennai.

Further security incidents involving OpenAI have been revealed, with the company confirming its artificial intelligence tools posted images from ChatGPT users onto online sites without the company's knowledge.
The images came from users whose data was eligible to be used for model training because they had not opted out.
OpenAI said it is working with hosting providers to remove the images.
The company also confirmed a report in the New York Times that its tools had accessed websites of US federal agencies, adding only publicly available information was accessed.
Open AI says it could take months to complete its review of cases of unauthorised activity by AI agents captured in their internal logs.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese says the growing cases of OpenAI security incidents, including the Medicare hack by an OpenAI agent, shows the importance of his efforts at the UN to lobby for greater international co-operation.
The Australian government says it is finding out more details of the June incident, which was only disclosed this week, and a taskforce has announced to investigate further.
Mr Albanese says the delayed notification to Australian authorities of the breach is unacceptable - and more must be done to prevent this type of incident.
"There are dozens of cases, including US government sites. What this does is confirm that our approach of making sure that there needs to be appropriate national response, as well as an international response, to make sure that humans stay in charge of this new and emerging technology."

The Mid-Autumn Festival or Moon Festival is being celebrated by Asian communities around the world this weekend.
The event, in the eighth month of the lunar calendar, is a celebration of harvest and family, with the occasion marked by gatherings centred around food.

Socceroo coach Tony Popovic says the team is hoping to go one better and come away with a win when it faces Brazil for a second friendly on Tuesday.
The sides had their first international friendly in Townsville on Friday.
Nestory Irankunda scored a goal for the Socceroos, with a stunning free kick.
But the game ended in a 1-all draw, after a header from Brazilian substitute Rayan in the 95th-minute.
Popovic says the team will recuperate and get ready to go at it again.
"Every detail matters. They're the number five in the world for a reason. They have superstars all over the park. And we showed today, we have good players - very good potential. We have got to build on this. And we have back up now on Tuesday. That is going to be tough for us after that heavy pitch that we played on - and the amount of minutes that we have in our legs, which is not much at all. That is the challenge for us. Repeat the performance and be competitive again."
