Firebrand senator Jacinta Nampijinpa Price has been dumped from the Coalition frontbench after refusing to apologise for comments about Indian migrants.
Liberal leader Sussan Ley has released a statement saying that serving on the shadow ministry is a privilege, and that everyone is expected to uphold the standards she has set.
Ms Ley says she ultimately decided Ms Price had failed to do so - a decision she passed on last night.
"I don't divulge the details of private conversations. My call to her was to advise her of the decision I have made. And to advise today, critically, she refused to provide confidence in my leadership of the Liberal Party. And confidence in the leader is a requirement for serving in the shadow ministry."
At least 13 people have been killed in flash flooding across two Indonesian islands, including tourist hotspot Bali.
National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) spokesperson Abdul Muhari says five Bali districts as well as the provincial capital city Denpasar have been impacted by the flooding, which has been triggered by torrential rain.
Muhari says flash flooding has also struck East Nusa Tenggara province's Flores island, cutting road access and phone services in 18 villages.
The crisis has prompted the evacuation of hundreds of residents.
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has called a violation of Polish airspace by several Russian drones a major provocation.
Poland says it deployed its own and NATO air defences to shoot down the drones - the first time an aircraft has been shot down over a NATO-member country.
Ukraine's president and the European Union have called the drone move a test of the alliance's resolve, while Tusk says Russia and Europe are inching towards an "open conflict" after the incident.
He says its NATO allies are taking the situation very seriously.
“We are most likely dealing with a large-scale provocation. But at the same time, we are in consultation with our allies. I am in constant contact with the NATO Secretary General. This is so that in the coming hours and days and in the future we can respond to this type of threat as effectively as we did tonight."
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen will seek sanctions and a partial trade suspension against Israel over its military campaign in Gaza.
Von der Leyen says she intends to sanction far-right Israeli cabinet members and West Bank settlers, freeze support to Israel, and partly suspend the Association Agreement that underpins relations between the EU and Israel.
The 27-nation EU is split over war in the Gaza Strip and it's unclear whether a majority will be found to endorse the sanctions and trade measures.
But the EU is Israel's largest trading partner, so the moves could have far-reaching effects inside Israel, a nation already reeling from the cost of a long war.
A prominent no campaigner from the failed Voice to Parliament referendum has called for Victoria’s landmark treaty to go to a vote.
Victoria has become the first state or territory in Australia to introduce treaty legislation to parliament, after 10 months of negotiations between the government and First Peoples' Assembly of Victoria.
Warren Mundine has now said that the treaty should be put to a referendum.
But Premier Jacinta Allan has already dismissed his argument, saying the state Labor government's commitment to treaty was on the ballot at the 2018 and 2022 elections.
"There's already been two pieces of legislation (on treaty) through the Victorian Parliament. It's already been the subject in two state elections. What we need to do is get on with this."

The Uruguayan-born Socceroo will transition into a football department role at the A-League club after his contract expires at the end of the 2025 season.
Fornaroli leaves as one of the competition's greatest imports.
The 38-year-old has scored 113 goals across stints with City, Perth Glory and Victory making him the third highest scorer in the league.
