US investigators say they have found a gun they believe was used to kill influential conservative activist Charlie Kirk in Utah.
FBI special agent in charge Robert Bowles says they have located a bolt action rifle probably used by the shooter, who investigators believe arrived on campus at Utah Valley University a few minutes before the event began.
He says security-camera videos show a person going up stairwells to get onto a roof before firing at Kirk, jumping off a roof and fleeing into an adjoining neighbourhood.
Mr Bowles says a media tip line is being set up to receive information from the public.
"As soon as we heard about the shooting, special agents and personnel from the Salt Lake field office responded immediately. We have full resources devoted to this investigation, including tactical, operational, investigative and intelligence. To be clear, the FBI will fully support and co-lead this investigation alongside with our partners. We are working on setting up a digital media tip line and as soon as it's established, we'll get that information out to everyone.”

Several NATO countries are sending troops, artillery and air defence systems to Poland after a number of Russian drones made an incursion into the country's airspace on Wednesday.
France, Germany, Lithuania, the Netherlands and Czech Republic have all announced some form of action to help secure NATO's eastern flank.
It comes ahead of an emergency U-N Security Council meeting that will be held today, which has been called to discuss the drone incursion that Russia says was not intentional.
Polish President Karol Nawrocki has maintained Poland believes the incident was an attempt to test NATO's strength.
"This Russian provocation, as the generals and our soldiers are well aware, was nothing more than an attempt to test our capabilities. The ability of politicians, the Polish president, and the Polish prime minister to respond to what is happening today. It was an attempt and provocation to test the mechanisms of operation within the North Atlantic Alliance and our readiness to respond."

The 29 year old constable and 45 year old sergeant have been suspended since the death of Luke Briggs eight days after his arrest in the carpark of a Hoppers Crossing convenience store in Melbourne’s southwest.
Victoria Police Deputy Commissioner Wendy Steendam says she was aware news of the charges would be concerning and difficult for many in the community.
But she says the force would not shy away from taking action to uphold the community’s trust and confidence in them.

The incoming head of the next Pacific leader forum talks has urged Türkiye to clear the way for the region to host the next United Nations climate talks.
Türkiye has already missed out on its last opportunity to secure hosting rights so is determined to stay in the race, but Pacific nations are insistent that the summit be held in their climate-vulnerable corner of the world.
Palauan President Surangel Whipps says all the leaders want the Australia-Pacific co-bid for the major Conference of Parties event to be successful.
His stance has been backed by Islands Forum Secretary General Baron Waqa, who says serious money needs to be spent on climate strategies and initiatives.
"Climate action is urgent. And climate finance is not just about winning. It is about equity, justice, and fairness."

An investigation has found that a university in Tasmania collected human specimens, and sometimes displayed them for decades, without the knowledge or consent of families.
Coroner Simon Cooper says the handling of remains by the University of Tasmania's R A Rodda Museum was not done in accordance with national standards, which were set up in 2002 but not acted upon by the state government.
The museum collected remains from coronial autopsies from 1966 to 1991 for teaching and research purposes.
The coroner says it appears one now-deceased forensic pathologist provided the large majority of the specimens to the museum.
