A big group of Australians has escaped war-torn Gaza as the conflict continues between Israel and Hamas.

Foreign Minister Penny Wong says 31 Australian citizens, permanent residents and family members have been evacuated from Gaza into Egypt via the Rafah Crossing.

She says they are being supported by consular staff in Egypt.

The evacuation takes the number of Australians assisted to leave the region by the federal government to 62.

Trucks carrying containers and equipment for a Jordanian field hospital have arrived in Gaza through the Rafah border crossing with Egypt, amid the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestinian group Hamas.

A reported 180 doctors, nurses and administrators have accompanied about 40 trucks across the border, with the aim of setting up the field hospital in Khan Younis within 48 hours.

The country will build the hospital in the south of the enclave to help to deal with the health crisis which has been made worse by the siege of Gaza's largest hospital, al-Shifa, reducing its ability to provide care to those fleeing the conflict.

A spokesman for the Rafah crossing, Hisham Adwan, says more health workers are expected soon.

"There will be an other 13 doctors coming in, Jordanians as well. Seventeen other people have entered from the UAE delegation who inspected the land on which the Emirati (field hospital) will be established. The delegation already left to the Egyptian side. It is expected that the Emirati hospital will be entering today or tomorrow."

Chinese officials have denied that one of the country's warships harmed Australian divers in an incident Prime Minister Anthony Albanese called dangerous and unprofessional.

China's defence ministry says the People's Liberation Army Navy destroyer did not carry out any activities that might affect Australian diving operations.

In a statement, the Ministry has said China kept a safe distance from the Australian ship and that Australia's remarks on the incident were "completely inconsistent with the facts".

But the opposition has continued to ask questions about the incident, with Coalition Defence spokesman Andrew Hastie arguing there has been a lack of transparency about what the Prime Minister has said to China.

"I think it is very troubling that the Albanese Government only announced the details of this malicious act against our navy divers after the PM had left the APEC summit. And that is where he boasted of a long conversation with President Xi and Wang Yi, and so it's unacceptable that he didn't raise it with those two leaders. He should have petitioned them and asked for an apology."

.

Western Australia's Premier Roger Cook has left for an official trade mission to China, in a bid to strengthen business and tourism ties.

The Premier says he will be speaking with industry representatives and key Chinese Government leaders.

Chief Economist at the W-A Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Aaron Morey, says this is a critical trade mission for the state.

He says China accounts for 55 per cent of all Western Australian exports.

"Oh look, we do remain hopeful. Obviously there has been significant progression in that relationship, we still want to see some lifting of restrictions around say wine, trade, trade around fresh rock lobster. These are really important industries to Western Australian communities and there is more progress to be made but we are confident."

To sport,

Australian World Cup hero Travis Head has missed out on a spot on the ICC's 'team of the tournament', with host India boasting six of the 11 selected players.

The only Australian selected is Glenn Maxwell, who smashed two classic centuries during the World Cup, including an unbeaten 201 against Afghanistan.

Travis Head achieved a classic 137 in Sunday's final, propelling Australia to their sixth O-D-I ((one day international)) World Cup crown, despite fears an injury would keep him out all tournament.

Captain Pat Cummins says the teams selectors took a risk bringing Head in, but it definitely paid off.

"Trav, the player we've seen it in test cricket, he epitomises everything I want out of a cricket team. He takes the game on, he plays with a smile and he just puts the pressure right back onto the opposition and he's just great fun to be around so I couldn't be happier for Trav."
