The Australian government and pharmaceutical exporters are scrambling to determine whether they will be impacted by Donald Trump's latest tariff bombshell.

It remains unclear whether CSL would be directly impacted by the US president's proposed 100 per cent tariffs, because while it makes up the bulk of Australia's $2.2 billion export trade, it also has a substantial footprint, employing 19,000 staff in the US.

Mr Trump has said exemptions would only apply if a pharmaceutical company was building a manufacturing plant in the US.

Health Minister Mark Butler says the government is still working to understand the implications of the announcement for Australian exporters.

"I guess our job now is to protect the interests of Australians, most importantly Australian patients who have benefited for almost 80 years from the PBS, a great Labor legacy from the 1940s and also to do what we can to support Australian companies who might be hit by what we regard as unfair, unjustified tariffs after 20 years of free trade."

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has condemned countries that recently recognised Palestinian statehood, accusing them of sending the message that violence against Jews is justified.

Speaking at the United Nations General Assembly, the Israeli leader has pushed back in his harshest terms yet against a flurry of diplomatic moves by leading US allies that have deepened Israel's international isolation over its conduct of a nearly two-year-old war against Hamas militants in the Gaza Strip.

"This week, the leaders of France, Britain, Australia, Canada and other countries unconditionally recognised a Palestinian state. They did so after the horrors committed by Hamas on October 7, the leaders who recognised the Palestinian state this week sent to the Palestinians. It's a very clear message, murdering Jews pays off."

Scores of delegates exited the hall as Netanyahu took the stage while some attendees in the balcony gave him a standing ovation.

Several countries say they embraced a Palestinian state at the annual New York gathering in order to preserve the prospect for a two-state solution.

An Australian film due for release in China may now not be screened at all after reports scenes were altered to change the sexuality of the characters.

The movie called Together was due for general release on 19 September but those plans have reportedly been put on hold by the Chinese distributor, Hishow.

It follows reports from audience members who attended early screenings that a scene in the movie featuring a same-sex male couple had been altered, with one face swapped for a woman's.

Film distributor Neon has told entertainment news site Deadline that it does not approve of the edit and that it was unauthorised.

A man who posted deepfake pornographic images of prominent Australian women has been slapped with a hefty fine as a "strong message" in a first-of-its-kind case.

The Federal Court has ordered the man to pay $350,000, plus costs, after he admitted to posting the images on a website called MrDeepFakes.com, which has since been shut down.

The case had been brought by the online regulator eSafety Commission almost two years ago.

The regulator argued a significant civil penalty was needed to reflect the seriousness of the Online Safety Act breaches and the damaging impact the image-based abuse had on the women targeted.

To sport now and in the AFL, the Geelong Cats and Brisbane Lions will meet this afternoon for this year's AFL Grand Final.

While the Lions are chasing back-to-back premierships, the Cats bring an impressive grand final pedigree of their own, having won the flag just three years ago in 2022.

It will be the team's fifth finals meeting in just six seasons.

But Brisbane Coach, Chris Fagan, says they are ready.

"We learned a fair bit and got a few reminders a few weeks ago. So, we think we'll be a little bit different tomorrow with the things that we do but more importantly we need to play with more intensity than last time. There's been a focus on that."
