  • Police launch investigation after AFL legend Eddie Betts shares footage of racist abuse,
  • South Korea's Ambassador to Australia resigns after less than a month.
  • Rabbitohs Good Friday victory takes pressure off coach Jason Demetriou.
The AFL has condemned a racist attack against Eddie Betts' children and police are investigating after the incident was captured on home security footage.

Chief Executive Andrew Dillon and General Manager for inclusion Tanya Hosch say the behaviour has no place in sport or wider society.

The Indigenous player posted a video on Instagram which shows a car slowing driving past his house and yelling a racist slur where children can be seen playing basketball next to the property.

Western Bulldogs coach Luke Beveridge has also shared a message of support for the Betts family.

"It makes me angry, it's sad. People have used the word disgusting, it makes me emotional. Quite simply it makes my blood boil and I think everyone feels the same way, or I hope everyone does."

Australian wine exporters say they are already inundated with requests from Chinese buyers, after Beijing announced the abolition of heavy tariffs imposed in 2020.

Industry groups say it could take years for wine exports to China, once worth up to $1.2 billion a year, to recover, after shrinking to around $10 million following the tariffs' introduction.

Alex Xu of Royal Star Wine says the company lost millions in trade and was forced to sell a vineyard in South Australia.

But he is now hearing from interested buyers again.

"Since yesterday, we do get so so many calls and also so many inquiries from the buyers and the suppliers, all the businesses, they all get so excited about this news."

South Korea's ambassador to Australia has resigned four weeks into the job amid a corruption investigation threatening the country's ruling party.

The South Korean Foreign Ministry has confirmed (March 19) the resignation of former defence minister Lee Jong-Sup, named as the new Australian Ambassador by President Yoon Suk Yeol's earlier this month (March 4).

Mr Lee was only in Australia for 10 days before he was forced to return to South Korea amid an investigation over allegations he had interfered with an inquiry into the drowning of a South Korean marine last year.

He has denied any wrongdoing and said he is willing to cooperate fully with the investigation.

His resignation comes just two weeks before parliamentary elections in Korea, with opposition MPs accusing President Yoon of sending Mr Lee away to limit damage to his People Power Party (PPP).

Good Friday has been marked across the country with seafood spreads, Easter egg hunts and church services, amid the first of the four day long weekend.

Many Christians started the day with a pilgrimage, commemorating Jesus's journey to crucifiction and resurrection.

Meanwhile, politicians from all sides have come forward to give messages about faith.

Labor Minister Tony Burke delivered a speech at the Maronite parish in Sydney.

"But the law does not rest on faith. On the contrary, whoever does the works of the law, will live by them. Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us through his written cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree."

In NRL,

The Rabbitohs have held off the Bulldogs to ease pressure on coach Jason Demetriou after three straight defeats to start the season.

The Souths came back from 12-10 behind at the end of the first half to secure a face-saving 20-16 win over Canterbury in their Good Friday (March 29) clash.

Jack Wighton and Alex Johnston were key in delivering the South's fifth win in over 17 matches, going back to when they sat near the top of the ladder last June.

Demetriou told a post-match press conference he does not worry about his job after a month of scruitny into his position.

"I don't come to work every day worrying about whether I'm gonna have a job or not. I come to work knowing that I've got a job to do to help these guys get prepared to play footy, and I work hard every day to make sure that they - I'm not going to put my head noise onto them. It's for me to deal with."]]
