Police in the Northern Territory says they suspect a five-year-old girl has been abducted from her home in Alice Springs.
The girl known as Sharon disappeared from her home in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Police are appealing for public help to find 47-year-old Jefferson Lewis who was recently released from prison.
Assistant Police Commissioner Mark Grieve says they know the man was near the girl's home in the hours before her disappearance.
"We certainly know that he was in and around Old Timers camp, and that particular residence, on Saturday afternoon and into that evening."

The man accused of trying to assassinate U-S President Donald Trump at the White House Correspondents' Dinner will tonight appear in court.
Police allege 31-year-old Californian Cole Allan travelled by train to Washington D-C before breaching a security barricade at the Washington Hilton Hotel, and opening fire, injuring a Secret Service agent.
Investigators have recovered a manifesto outlining his plans, and say his family had previously raised concerns with police.

Two bodies have been found following an early-morning house fire in the Blue Mountains in New South Wales that has caused four other people to be taken to hospital.
Police say remains were found when the house was able to be searched on Monday morning, after firefighters extinguished the blaze.

Australian families linked to militants of I-S have left a Syrian refugee camp as they make another bid to re-enter the country.
There are reportedly four women and nine children and grandchildren who have secured flights home to Australia, arranged without the Federal Government's authority or support.
Labor Senator Tanya Plibersek tells Channel 7 that Australian security agencies are monitoring the situation and safety measures are already in place.
"These security agencies are watching this group very closely on the basis of that advice. We have issued a temporary exclusion order already. There may be further actions taken if they make it back here. The last lot didn't make it back here."

The death toll from an explosives attack on a highway in southwestern Colombia on Sunday has risen to 19.
The blast on the Pan-American Highway also injured 38 people, including five children, after a bus drove onto an explosive device that had been planted on the road.
The Colombian government is blaming the bombing on a dissident faction of the former F-A-R-C guerrilla group.

In sport, Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah will miss the rest of the season with a hamstring injury he sustained in a 3–1 Premier League win over Crystal Palace.
The 33-year-old has a tear and will need around four weeks to recover, meaning he has likely played his final game for the club.
Salah, who is set to leave Liverpool at the end of the season, went off injured in the 60th minute.
He is expected to be fit for the 2026 World Cup, where Egypt will face Belgium, New Zealand and Iran.
