Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has revealed the scale of his government's involvement in the treaty with Papua New Guinea that will see further integration of the two countries' defence forces.
The treaty will be signed on Monday, and it will allow Australia and PNG to recruit soldiers from each other's country, while P-N-G citizens can acquire Australian citizenship by serving in the Australian Defence Force.
Mr Albanese says the security treaty is what he calls of great significance for Australia.
"Papua New Guinea is a great democracy and a great friend, and the significance we place in the relationship between Australia and PNG is exemplified by the fact that you will have the Prime Minister, the Deputy Prime Minister, other ministers there as well."

The Coalition has welcomed the Albanese government's $12 billion boost to the AUKUS defence pact, but says it's "too little, too late".
The new investment will support the delivery of the Henderson defence precinct near Perth, aiming to increase Australia's naval shipbuilding and submarine capabilities to meet its AUKUS obligations.
The Opposition's defence spokesperson Angus Taylor welcomes the investment, but is urging the government to increase defence spending to 3 per cent of GDP.
He also says that despite the new investment, the Henderson defence precinct - which is estimated to cost $25 billion in total over a decade - is still under funded.
"We are facing the most dangerous strategic circumstances since the second World War. We need a defence force that is ready, prepared, we don't have that. We hear that from experts after experts, and we know funding is not sufficient to put us in a position we need to be in these circumstances, and the government needs to urgently address that."

Qatar's prime minister has urged the international community to reject a perceived double standard and hold Israel to account after it bombed Hamas leaders in Doha last week.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani made the comments ahead of an emergency summit convened in response to the unprecedented Israeli strike.
The leaders of Iran, Iraq, Turkey, and the Palestinian Authority are set to attend, but it's not clear whether Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman will go.
Israel's strike on Qatar inflamed tensions between the key U-S allies, and the Trump Administration has expressed its misgivings about the approach.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio is holding meeting in Israel, where he received a warm welcome from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
"I think his visit here is a testament to the durability, the strength of the Israeli-American alliance. It's as strong and as durable as the stones of the Western Wall that we just touched. Under President Trump and Secretary Rubio and their entire team, this alliance has never been stronger, and we deeply appreciate it."
