Super Typhoon Fung-wong has made landfall in the Philippines, leaving at least two people dead and forcing more than a million people to evacuate.
It is the second typhoon in a week to hit the country after Kalmaegi.
With a radius spanning nearly the whole of the Philippines, the typhoon made landfall in Aurora province on the main island of Luzon at 9:10pm local time.
Residents like 60-year-old Victor Gamboa packed up and fled low-lying areas, fearing the worst.
"They said this typhoon is big and strong, so we wanted to prepare. Of course, we are scared, and if the typhoon strikes us at night then we'd need to scramble. I have some small grandchildren with me, so we decided to just evacuate early."

Seven people are dead and hundreds missing after a boat carrying about 300 passengers sank near the Thailand-Malaysia border.
Malaysian maritime officials have so far rescued 13 people.
Among the survivors were three Myanmar men, two Rohingya men, and one Bangladeshi man, according to state media.
The vessel had departed from Buthidaung, Myanmar, three days earlier, and search efforts continue off the coast of Langkawi.
Many of those on board are believed to be Rohingya refugees fleeing persecution in Myanmar, where they are denied citizenship and face widespread discrimination.
It's understood traffickers charge up to $5,500 per person for the dangerous journey.

Pro-Palestinian and climate activists have joined Jewish groups in criticising inconsistent police responses and what they referred to as the 'unfathomable approval' of a neo-Nazi rally on the steps of New South Wales parliament on the weekend.
The groups have called for authorities to determine whether any laws have been broken and New South Wales Police have vowed to investigate.
The state Greens M-P Sue Higginson voiced concern that the neo-Nazi rally was offered police protection, when pro-Palestinian rallies have been challenged in court.
State opposition leader Mark Speakman has called on the government to explain how it was able to go ahead.
He says no multicultural community should be targeted.
“It was the Jewish community yesterday, it could be any other part of our multicultural community in the future. It could be the Islamic community, the Indian community, other groups from non anglo-celtic backgrounds. This is intolerable.”

Negotiations on changes to support for autistic children have hit a roadblock as the Albanese government attempts to move some children with autism and developmental delays off the NDIS to a new program.
The program, called Thriving Kids, would provide early intervention and support for the cohort through mainstream channels such as general practitioners and schools.
A meeting of federal government and state and territory ministers has been held to broach the topic - yet the talks have been complicated by a simultaneous effort to broker a five-year public hospital funding agreement between the governments.
Queensland Premier David Crisafulli tells the state Liberal National Party congress that federal Labor is playing a cruel game.
But NDIS Minister Jenny McAllister tells Sky News they're trying to be fair.
"We are hopeful of reaching an agreement with the states and territories by the end of the year. It's a complex agreement... because I actually think the states and territories and the Commonwealth have a shared interest in reaching an agreement. And that is to ensure that we have fair funding arrangements for hospital system but also a well-functioning NDIS."

Radio legend John Laws - whose deep, golden voice defined Australian broadcasting for decades - has died aged 90.
Known affectionately as the man with the "Golden Tonsils," Laws spent more than 70 years on air at Sydney stations 2UE and 2GB, becoming one of the country's most recognisable and influential talkback hosts.
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese led tributes, calling Laws "an iconic voice and so much more".
In 1999, an inquiry into the commercial radio 'cash for comments' scandal said he was one of the key players over a failure to disclose sponsorship agreements, which he denied.
He said generations of Australians respected him for "telling it straight” and for giving both guests and listeners the chance to be heard.

In football,
Manchester City have defeated Premier League champions Liverpool in a thumping three-nil home win at the Etihad.
Despite having an early penalty chance saved by Giorgi Mamardashvili, Erling Haaland struck gold with a headed goal in the 29th minute to open the scoring.
Nico Gonzalez doubled City's lead in extra time in the first half, while Jeremy Doku sealed the game for the sky blues with a stunning curler in the 63rd minute.
It's a disappointing result for the reigning champions who slump to 8th in the table with four losses in their last five league games.
Meanwhile, City are closing the gap on leaders Arsenal who remain four points clear of the pack.
