United States President Donald Trump says he has signed a new order reinstating 10 per cent global tariffs after the Supreme Court struck down the far-reaching tariff regime at the heart of his economic agenda.

He says the tariffs will apply to all countries and will come into effect "almost immediately."

Earlier, a 6-3 majority of Supreme Court justices found it unconstitutional for the president to unilaterally set and change tariffs, saying taxation power belongs to Congress.

However, President Trump says the latest order to impose global 10 per cent tariffs falls under a different law that governs trade deficits.

"But now I'm going to go in a different directions, probably the direction I should have gone the first time, but I read the language - I'm very good at reading language, and it read out way 100 per cent - but now I'll go the way I could have gone originally which is even stronger than our original choice."

A man and a teenage boy have been charged over the alleged shooting of a former NRL star outside a home in Sydney's southwest on Tuesday morning.

Former Canterbury and Wests Tigers winger Matt Utai was taken to hospital after being shot multiple times.

Detectives believe he was caught in the crossfire of an attack targeting his son Iziah Utai due to Iziah’s alleged gang associations.

A 25-year-old man and a 15-year-old boy have been arrested and charged with intent to murder and participating in a criminal group.

Police say the incident was linked to shots and a firebombing at two other western Sydney homes which also targeted the Utai family.

Four others have been charged over the attacks including a 19- and 16-year-old.

Matt Utai remains in a serious condition in hospital.

New South Wales cybercrime detectives have arrested a man following an investigation into an alleged $5 million cryptocurrency scam.

Police allege the investment scam defrauded over 190 elderly and vulnerable Australians since November last year.

They say victims were engaged through social media and encouraged to invest in cryptocurrency, before being contacted by someone claiming to be an investment advisor.

They were then directed to deposit funds into a Digital Currency Exchange web portal known as ‘NEXO-payment’.

Police searched two homes and a business in Sydney yesterday and charged a man with recklessly dealing with proceeds of crime.

Another man was also arrested and released pending further inquiries.

Iran's Foreign Minister says his country is seeking to make a deal with the United States concerning its nuclear program.

But he's warned that military action by foreign powers will not succeed in shutting down Iran's nuclear energy scheme.

Speaking on MSNBC, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Iran is willing to negotiate to make sure its uranium enrichment program remains peaceful.

“The only solution is diplomacy. This is why the U.S. is back in the table of negotiation and is seeking a deal. And we are prepared for that. We are prepared for you know, war, and we are prepared for peace."

US President Donald Trump has given Iran 10 to 15 days to reach a nuclear deal and continues to build up its military capabilities in the region.

The Bangarra Dance Theatre says the company is deeply humbled and honoured to be awarded the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement in Dance, from La Biennale di Venezia.

The award will be presented at the 20th International Festival of Contemporary Dance in Venice where Bangarra will premiere its performance - 'Terrain' - in Europe.

Artistic Director and Co-CEO Frances Rings says the award is a significant endorsement.

"This is the first time that a company has received the award. So, it's overwhelming but also a confirmation that the work that's we're doing, advocating for our people and for our stories, to put those stories in the mainstream and use our platform to create change and awareness, that that's working."

And in cricket,

Australia has finished its T20 World Cup campaign on a high note with a spectacular nine-wicket victory over Oman in Sri Lanka.

Australia bowled out the Omanis for 104 in 16 overs before captain Mitch Marsh hit an unbeaten 64 runs as his side scored 1-108 with 62 balls remaining.

It is the equal fastest any side has chased down a 100-plus total in the T20 World Cup.

Despite the win, Australia will not enter the Super Eight Stage, having already been eliminated from the World Cup after they were beaten by Zimbabwe and co-hosts Sri Lanka earlier in the competition.
