Small business BAS due 28th April 2018

And the BAS lodgement date for the March quarter has arrived, for businesses with a GST turnover under $10 million, there is a simpler BAS reporting system.

Under the new method, they only need to report on total sales, GST on sales and GST on purchases.

And if paid on time, businesses can set up a payment plan online if they are a sole trader, or if their debt is less than $100,000.

If you have any questions, you can call 13 72 26, or head to the ATO website.

Manufacturing confidence highest in 10 years

There's some good news for the manufacturing sector, according to the latest Sensis small business survey, with confidence in the sector rising 20 points on the previous quarter.

34% of manufacturers listed an increasingly favourable business environment and healthy sales as key drivers of the boost in confidence.

Other factors supporting the boom are the lower Australian dollar encouraging manufacturing exporters and a large number of domestic infrastructure projects.

Across other small business sectors, confidence has remained stable.
