Sydney based restaurant, Bitton Gourmet, is busy preparing to supply Christmas catering this year.
The restaurant, owned and run by couple David and Sohani Bitton, is celebrating 18 successful years in Sydney’s Alexandria. This compares very favourably with the average restaurant lifespan of just 18 months.
Small Business Secrets first visited the French-inspired restaurant in 2016.
Since then, the couple has successfully launched their range of jams, chutneys, and dressings overseas, finding markets in New Zealand and Dubai.
The couple’s second venue, Bitton Oatley, is a five-star gourmet café that’s clocked up two busy years, offering seasonal menus including degustation dinners.
David has also recently authored an inspiring auto-biography titled ‘Chopped and Served’ outlining the many ups and downs of his personal life and entrepreneurial career.
And while David and Sohani admit to making mistakes along their near two-decade hospitality journey, they offer this advice to anyone starting a small business.
“Hire someone who understands numbers,” David says with characteristic enthusiasm.
“Get a financial controller into your business, so the cash flow is up on the screen all the time.”
Through their new Christmas catering, including gift boxes, the couple aims to help people everywhere to celebrate the festive season in style.
