When we caught up just under a year ago, independent booksellers like Booktopia were bracing themselves for the arrival of Amazon in late 2017.
The company was forced to abandon a $100 million sharemarket float last year when it found investors were too spooked about the potential arrival of US retailing giant.
But founder Tony Nash was happy to report sales were up 29% on the previous year.
He says Amazon has instead "floated all the boats", in the online shopping industry, encouraging Aussies to start shopping online again.
Booktopia's dedication to Australian content has continued to work in their favour, so much so they've hired more staff, and are bounding up to 35,000 individual items per day.
