We check in with Cicada Innovations, a tech incubator in Sydney we visited last year.

Cicada has 70 companies and 400 entrepreneurs working out of its premises, and incredibly, almost 70% of people working at Cicada hold PhDs.

Since its foundation in 2000, Cicada has provided services to entrepreneurs in medical, engineering, and IT web sciences.

However, most of Cicada's activities are so top secret that they attract little public attention.

Since then, Cicada took out a global award as the top incubator in the world, beating more than 2,002 other finalists for the International Business Innovation Association Prize.

It's also been labelled a 'super hub', meaning the centre can provide support and guidance to their founders by successfully bringing together various models of entrepreneurial growth.

So far, companies passing through Cicada have raised more than $110 million in capital with the largest disclosed acquisition topping $340 million.
