Four years ago, Michael McTeigue combined his passion for helping rescue dogs with a unique business idea.
Banks were reluctant to lend to a social enterprise, so Michael remortgaged his own house and scrapped together his own savings to turn his idea into a reality.
From there, SavourLife was born - a pet food business that donates 50 per cent of their earnings to pet shelters.
Since then, the business has experienced strong growth.
In the last month, SavourLife achieved its important business goal of donating more than $500,000 to over 200 rescue shelters across Australia.
They have also supported the re-homing of over 4,100 dogs.
As well as an extended range of treats, SavourLife has added Australian-made grain-free dog food that is now stocked in speciality pet stores all over the country.
Michael attributes the boost to a strong social media presence, on platforms like Instagram and Facebook.
