Top seed Barbora Strycova has progressed to the semi-finals of the Ladies Open Biel Bienne after her opponent retired from the WTA tournament through injury.

Strycova lost the first set to Germany's Julia Goerges 6-4 but won the second 6-3 and was one game up in the decider when her opponent called it a day due to a problem with her right wrist.

World No.18 Strycova will face Marketa Vondrousova in an all Czech semi-final after she eliminated Kristyna Pliskova 6-2 7-5.

Qualifier Aliaksandra Sasnovich is also through to the final four following a 6-4 6-4 win over Camila Giorgi, while Anett Kontaveit came through 7-5 6-7 (2/7) 6-1 against Elise Mertens.
