Sydney Sixers captain Ellyse Perry says her WBBL outfit has pulled off a masterstroke by recruiting Sarah Coyte.

Coyte returned to top-level cricket last weekend for the Sixers, almost a year after retiring to battle anxiety and anorexia.

Coyte will feature again for the Sixers when they play the Adelaide Strikers in Friday's WBBL semi-final, with the winner to meet the Perth Scorchers in Sunday's final.

Coyte, who has racked up 77 one-day internationals and four Tests for Australia, had been playing in Sydney's district ranks before being lured to the Sixers.

"That was a real masterstroke from our coach Ben Sawyer," Perry said.

"We were speaking about who we were going to bring in when we lost the South Africans and Coytey popped up.

"She has been playing a couple of games of grade cricket in Sydney and, to see her come out and do what she did on the weekend, it was literally like she hadn't left playing top-level cricket."

In her comeback match for the Sixers, Coyte took 2-14 before claiming 3-18 the next day as Sydney banked consecutive wins over Adelaide.

"There's certainly no pressure on Coytey to pick up cricket full-time again or anything like that," Perry said.

"We just want to see her enjoy it ... and whatever she does from there is totally up to her.

"But it has been such a pleasure to see her out there with such a smile on her face and enjoying what she's doing."
