One of the most popular Basketball players from the National Basketball Association (NBA) has just retired from his 20 year career playing for the Los Angeles Lakers. So of course people have auctioned off every piece of memorabilia from his last game, including...air.
In the 2015-16 basketball season, Bryant broke the record for playing the most seasons with the same team in the NBA. So LA Lakers fans, who had been following Bryant's career for 20 years wanted to sell or own something to remember him by.
A bag of air from his last game was swiftly posted to eBay and auction bids reached $15, 000 before the item was removed by the e-commerce site.
This bizarre buying behaviour had us questioning, what other stupid things have been sold on eBay?
1. Air from a Kanye West concert
Bryant's air isn't the first zip-lock bag to be sold on eBay. A bag of air from Kanye West's concert was put up for auction in 2015, and the bid reached over $60, 000.
2. Water from a cup Elvis Presley drank out of
Elvis Presley fan Wade Jones sold some water out of a cup that he claims Elvis Presley drank out of at a concert in 1977. The few drops of water sold for $455 on eBay, with Jones refusing to sell the cup. He now goes by the name 'The Elvis Cup Guy' on social media.
3. Half eaten piece of Vegemite toast
A member of the British boy band, One Direction tried some Vegemite toast when he was visiting Australia. Footage of band member Niall Horan eating the toast was viewed on Australian television and then his leftovers quickly sold online. It sold for a whopping $99, 999 (yeah, that's nearly $100, 000).
4. Justin Timberlake's half eaten piece of toast
There's something about boy band members and their half eaten toast. While Justin Timberlake's eaten toast didn't sell for quite as much as Niall Horan's, the soggy leftovers still went for $3, 000.
And in case you were sad you missed out on air from Kobe Bryant's last game - there's still plenty more zip-log bags full of it being sold on eBay now.
